Overall, life in general has just been rollin' along at a pretty fast clip, to quote a West Texas phrase. We've been spending lots of time with family and been trying to take in as much of this gorgeous weather as possible. That means a lot of our time has been spent at the park playing or here at the house playing with the back door open so Garrett can run in and out. He's been painting on, digging in, jumping on, and climbing on anything that will stand still! PTL for washable paint! Now that Grace is more mobile, he's also been "all over her" wanting to play with her. Mostly, he brings her a toy, lets her hold it for a second, and then takes it back and "shows" her the "proper" way to play with it. She's eatin' it up that he's playing with her. He's pretty smitten' with her, too, even though he will completely deny it when they're both teenagers. It's even gotten to where he doesn't like for his new playmate (now officially "Grace" and not just "Baby" as of this morning) to nap in the mornings.
This past weekend went at a much slower pace, at least the first part of it did. Before dark on Friday night, we decided to take advantage of us still having a borrowed sit-n-stand stroller from my friend, Ruthie, and headed to the park. Grace has been to the park a ton to watch her brother play, but this was her first stroller ride where she got to sit in something other than the carrier and see more than just the sky above her.
Since we were gone most of the week, I told the kids that we were going to stay at the house most of the day and play in our pjs. Daddy had been awesome and taken care of the kiddos a lot during the week, so it was time for him to get some fishing in before winter hits. He headed to the lake before the sun was up, and the rest of us were complete bums here at home.
Garrett spent some of the morning demonstrating the art of cars and car racing to his little sister.
Once Jeff got home, we headed to dinner at Clay's with some friends from church. It's a great place for kids because they have a large play area and animals for the kids to feed and pet. For once, Garrett didn't want to have anything to do with the horses, but his little sister was all over it. She loved them! That made her Mommy very happy!
I can't forget to mention though that we may never be invited back to Clay's again. In the middle of dinner, Garrett, who had been doing great at sitting in his chair and eating his dinner, choked slightly on a piece of his food. He quickly cleared it from his throat, looked up at his father with a sweet smile to reassure him that he was okay, and then a few seconds later, decided to throw up like a fountain all over the floor and his father's pants leg and boot. Barely got a drop on himself. Garrett felt great afterwards and couldn't figure out why his mother was whisking him off to the restroom. You've got to love friends who understand that these things happen. The girl next to me kept saying that Garrett just did one of the best throw ups she had ever seen! Never a dull moment, but those moments may not happen at Clay's for a while!
Sunday was one of "the boys" and "the girls". Jeff met up with Nana, Uncle Jody, and Cousin Aidan for the boys to go see "Disney on Ice". The boys had a great time! Nemo was Garrett's favorite, go figure!
While the boys were doing that, Grace and I went to a baby shower for my friend Sarah. All dressed up in pink, Grace was a hit at her first shower. She got loved on, sang to, and cuddled with by some of my favorite people in the world!

One more thing before I end this incredibly long catch up post. This last week has been one of absolute WORD EXPLOSION! Garrett has started talking like crazy. His newest thing is to count to 10 (minus 7 for some odd reason!) and say his letters. He's been wanting to call everyone on the phone and count for them. It's been hit and miss with some of his numbers and letters for months and months, but it seems they're all coming together at once.
This may be one of my favorite videos of him ever! (Translation on some of it...he says "F" phonetically, he says "me" for "G" because that's what we call him, and he also says "Honey" for "H". Too cute!)
P.S. Yes (grandparents and other fam), I do have pictures from Halloween to post. With us running and going so much during the day and with Grace not staying on her back much anymore, she's not napping as well in the afternoons, which means Mommy doesn't have as much time to get pictures uploaded. I'll give you a hint though of what some of them look like. Not only are there some of a pretty cute little stunt car driver and an adorable kitty cat, there are pictures of my adorable baby in a pumpkin! Yes, IN a pumpkin! Not just sitting beside one. Not just holding a tiny one. Yes, IN one! Pictures coming soon!
P.S.S. Yes, we are getting a new blog layout (and url address) that shows for a fact that we do have TWO children, one being a boy and one being a girl! Hopefully, God willing and naps happening, the new blog will happen this week, too.
