Garrett's Buddy...Cousin Aidan

As you can probably tell, I've been blogging more than normal the last few days. It's mostly because this extremely prego Mommy has been needing to rest more during Garrett's nap time, so instead of my ongoing to do list, I've been sitting and working on the computer. Another reason is because I've had this long list of things I've wanted to blog about and finally just realized that our little girl is arriving in less than month. This Mommy of one is about to become a Mommy of two and will have less blogging time on her hands. All of that to say, here's yet another post.

This post is about one of Garrett's favorite buddies...his Cousin Aidan! We've been so blessed to have our nephew not only be close to Garrett's age, just 10 months older, but to have him live here in Houston. The boys absolutely love playing together and have so much fun when they see each other. Everyone in Jeff's family has said that it's neat for them to see the boys together because Aidan and Garrett remind them of when Jody and Jeff were little boys and played together. Same story, second verse about 30 years later.

The thing I love the most about the boys is that they get along really well. One of my favorite memories of the two of them was about six months or so ago. We were all together, and Aidan really wanted to play with Garrett. Instead of dragging him along by the arm to make him do what he wanted to do, like some kiddos would have done with someone younger than them (and couldn't talk enough yet to tell him "no"), he kept gently putting his hand on Garrett's back and sweetly saying, "Let's play. Let's play." Garrett just looked at him, smiled from ear to ear because his cousin wanted to play with him, and then ran off with Aidan. Just good ol' buddies!

The boys spent a Saturday together at the new Houston Children's Museum.

After playing at the museum, they played some more at dinner. Poor Elmo. They would toss him back and forth and then crack up at the top of their lungs. For some reason, they thought it was hilarious!

Inhaling some popcorn with PaPa at the lake. I won't even begin to tell you what time it was when they were doing this, but the clue is that Mommy wasn't there that night to point out the age of these boys! ;-)

The boys had a great time this year at the church's "Spring Loaded" festival...inflatables, a petting zoo, an Easter egg hunt, and of course, playing with their Daddy's sunglasses.

A couple Saturdays ago, Nana came over and babysat both of the boys. Knowing she was keeping two extremely active toddlers/preschoolers, she brought a bag of goodies to keep them entertained. One of them was a slip-n-slide. Garrett had the most fun watching Aidan slide down it over and over.

Talk about imagination. In the true spirit of their PaPa and Oma, they turned the basketball goal into a motorcycle. They even took turns "driving"!
