Our Little G's: Wedding Bells

The weekend after the kids and I were in Lubbock, wedding bells were ringing for Uncle Jansen and now "Aunt" Johna! We all absolutely adore Johna and are so glad she's officially part of the family.

Friday night was the rehearsal in Caldwell and then the rehearsal dinner in College Station. The dinner was actually at the same restaurant where Jeff and I had our first date over 10 years ago. It was fun to be back there all these years later!

Jeff and I had "discussed" for weeks about whether the kids should be in the sanctuary during the ceremony or not. I wasn't convinced that both kiddos could hold it together for the whole service. I was having nightmares about Garrett seeing Jeff up on stage and screaming, "There's Daddy!" during the vows! I was relieved at the rehearsal when Johna's sister-in-laws were also a little concerned about their kids and decided to camp out on the back row of the church, just in case. I decided they had the right idea, so all the Mommies decided to wrangle the kids on the last few rows and converted it into the "childcare section"! Thanks to that and a handy dandy iPhone for Garrett (I have no shame, trust me!), we survived the service. Apparently everyone thought it was adorable when Grace cooed during the quietest part of the ceremony. Pays for her to be cute and precious!

This was one of my favorite pictures of the whole day! Jansen and Johna both have two brothers, and they all have kiddos. That gives the bride and groom a total of 8 nieces and nephews. This was the picture where the photographer tried to get all of those kids to look at the camera at once. I took this one right after the two littlest ones were handed to Jansen and Johna at the last second possible, before they each realized their parents weren't holding them anymore and went to pieces.

Yes, it is true. If you look closely at this picture, you will see that my son does not have pants on. No, we hadn't lost our minds or his pants. We had the pants, wet and all. He had a brief potty accident, and Daddy had run out to the car to grab the back-up pair. While Daddy was gone though, Garrett decided to run around the sanctuary like Tom Cruise in Risky Business! PTL there weren't any wedding guests to get a viewing of the our son's show!

Once a clean pair of pants were put on him, he continued to run around the sanctuary with his Cousin Aidan. They were completely over having their pictures taken and thought chase and wrestling was a much better option!

The reception had to have been Garrett's favorite part, hands down! The boy danced ALL night long! If you doubt, ask his dancing partners...Nanny, Oma, and the bride...plus Johna's niece who Garrett keeps affectionately calling "that little girl"...he talking about her for days after the wedding!

The funniest part of the night though was when the DJ got ready to start playing music and told the guests they could make any requests they wanted. Garrett didn't bobble. He walked boldly up to the stage and said, "Elmo!" When the DJ played George Strait, Garrett looked at everyone and said, "That's not Elmo!" What good DJ doesn't have Elmo, right?!?
