It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here...

Tree trimming time...







That look she has on her face is one of not just curiosity but of pure, full out scheming. From the first night, she was trying to figure out exactly how to not only touch but pull off every single ornament on the tree. It didn't take long for our tree to morph into one where all the breakable ornaments were safely out of our her reach.



Last week was the annual Christmas ornament decorating night at the kids' preschool. It was fun to spend the evening making ornaments with the Bowman's.











The cookie decorating was without a doubt Grace's favorite part of the evening. Since the sweets weren't up Garrett's alley, he happily supplied his little sister with his extra icing. We thanked him later!



We've been wanting to take the kids to the see all the Christmas lights at "Santa's Wonderland" in College Station. Jeff and I went there when we were in college. Back then, because we were typical college students looking for cheap entertainment, a huge group of us went when we could pay by the car load and then pile in the back of my roommate's pickup truck. All these years later, cheap entertainment still works for us, so we went with Papa and Honey and paid by the car load. Since we didn't have a bed of a pickup truck to sit in, the kids improvised and hung out of the sunroof. I hope I never forget Grace standing on the console of the car with her head stuck out the sunroof waving at everyone as we went by. She waved and said, "Hi! Merry Christmas!" You would have thought she was in a Christmas parade and was the queen. Hilarious! It made me think of the sign Nanny has gotten her for Christmas. It reads, "Not everyone can be a princess...someone has to sit on the curb and clap as I go by.” That's our girl!











Before we got to the end, Grace was cold, so our "queen" added her queenly robe (aka Papa's coat) to her outfit. While she warmed up, Garrett took his turn sitting on the top of the car to get a better view of the lights. What you can't see in this picture is his Daddy hanging out the side window holding onto him so that he didn't fall. We all laughed our heads off because we felt like the Griswold's going to see Christmas lights.
