December 24th - "I am so happy to share good news with you this morning and am bowing down before our Lord in praise and gratitude. He is so good! Bekah underwent another CAT scan this morning and her physician said he is very pleased and visible progress can be seen when compared to her last CAT scan results. Her swelling continues to go down and because of that he was able to paint a better picture of the potential damage to Bekah's brain. First, it turns out that the aneurysm is the result of a congenital issue. In layman's terms, Bekah's aneurysm was the result of a birth defect. Apparently when the vessel first ruptured, it was a small leak in her brain. When Bekah passed out at the mall, a blood clot was beginning to form in her brain. When the neurosurgeon began performing her surgery, he actually saw the aneurysm blow and was able to clip it immediately. This is another sign of God's hand at work. Bekah was very fortunate that she was already in surgery and the neurosurgeon was immediately able to react to the aneurysm.
Bekah's doctor also reported that there appears to be damage on the right frontal lobe of the brain. However, the right and left frontal lobes basically serve the same purpose and so one side can compensate for the loss of the other side. Once again, another miracle! The doctor said the back right part of Bekah's brain was also damaged. This part of the brain handles motor function. Until Bekah wakes from her coma, we will not know how much her motor skills have been impacted. However, her doc said Bekah's young age is her best ally and physical therapy could help.
I know I say it every time, but your prayers really are powerful! The life of Bekah is the best Christmas gift I could ask for this year. God has some big plans for our precious Bekah.
